Cardiovascular Disease and Inflammatory Disease

Posted on Updated on

Cardiovascular disease are diseases of inflammation of arteries. Inflammation of endothelium are caused by excessive free radicals created by high blood pressure, diabetes, cigarette smoke, fatty meals, hyperinsulinemia, elevated homocysteine, and possibly some infectious agents(usually bacteria from gum disease). Resulting tears of endothelium allowed LDL cholestrol to enter into subendothelial space where it becomes oxidized and starts to build a plague, similar as a band-aid trying to repair the damage to the artery. This creates the hardening of the arteries. Taking statin’s drug not only lower your cholestrol but also reduce inflammation.
